Jackie's latest guest article for US online magazine Sixty & Me looks at how to enjoy travelling in Italy without the crowds. Cities like Venice are now charging day-trippers, and the popularity of sites in Florence and Rome can lead to long queues if you have not planned well ahead. But smaller towns and less-visited cities have just as much to offer, and you can explore with the feeling that you have these places to yourself. And the local food and wine will be just as good, if not better, than in the major tourist hot-spots, something which is always close to our hearts!
