Sunset Dinner on Mount Buffalo

A Night to Remember

Close to Bright in north east Victoria, the granite mountain known as Mount Buffalo was one of the first National Parks in the region. It was established in 1898, and today covers over 30,000 hectares, encompassing the entire granite plateau and the majority of the forested foothills below. This extraordinary mountain is home to a number of unique plants found in no other part of Australia or the rest of the world and gives shelter to lyrebirds, wombats and possums amongst many other species.

The highest point on Mount Buffalo is known as The Horn which sits at 1,723 metres above sea level.  It offers a cool haven in summer with phenomenal views over the surrounding landscape.  Our Sunset Dinners on The Horn are unforgettable experiences, bringing together the unique beauty, environment and history of this magical mountain.

The event starts with an afternoon transfer from the centre of Bright up to the mountain.  We will walk on well-maintained mountain trails before arriving at The Horn as the sun is setting.  Dinner will include canapés and  three courses prepared by us using the best locally-sourced fresh produce, matched with fabulous local wines from the area.  At the end of the evening you will be transferred back to Bright.

This unique event could be booked by private groups and a minimum of four people would be required.  If you'll be in the area of Bright from December to February, don't book a restaurant in town but escape to the cool climes of the mountain and enjoy an experience to remember forever.

Secret Trails of Bright

If you have more time in Bright then why not consider another hike with us?  When we were under lockdown and our local National Parks were closed we spent many hours hiking in the hills around our home town of Bright. The town sits in the Ovens Valley and is surrounded by pine forests and native bush. In this time we put together a selection of wonderful hikes in the area, some more challenging than others, and tailored to all requirements. Let us guide you on some of our favourite trails and perhaps finish your day with a glass of wine and a tasty platter at a local boutique winery, or with a refreshing beer by the river. Regardless of whether you choose a shorter or longer hike, you will be rewarded with spectacular views, a delicious picnic lunch and some fascinating stories about the region. Walks range from 8km-18km and prices start from $165 per person
